History of Miskelly Barn Dance
Miskelly Barn Dances have been well known in Northern Ireland for decades. Playing throughout Northern Ireland at Church Halls, Young Farmers, Club events, Fund raisers, Wedding venues, Birthday Parties or simply a family get together.
Doreen Miskelly started calling barn dances back in the 1960's and later Husband Alec joined Doreen to form 'The Misks'. Sometimes referred to today as a Hoe-down or Square dance.
Grandson Marc Miskelly continues the family tradition in the form of 'Miskelly Barn Dance' using Doreen's original set dances, square dances, waltz's and line dances to create a great fun event.
'The Misks' barn dances/set dancing was rather unique in Northern Ireland and indeed throughout the UK as very few musicians have the skill to be able to play the music live on keyboard and call the dancing at the same time.
Marc Miskelly has been hosting/calling Barn dances in Northern Ireland for quite some time. As a child, Marc attended barn dances with his grand parents, as a teenager he played the drums for grandmother Doreen when Alec wasn't available.
